About the Role

Our client is a VIC government organisation based in Abbotsford VIC. They are currently seeking a Financial Accounting Coordinator to come in and work with them on a temp contract until 4th August 2026.

Candidates for this role must have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance or similar
  • Extensive experience in a senior financial operations and accounting roles
  • CA/CPA Qualification or similar
  • Previous local government experience is highly desirable, but not essential

Key responsibilities include:

  • Statutory & Financial Reporting: Lead financial reporting in compliance with legislation, Australian Accounting Standards, and internal policies.
  • Team Leadership: Direct the Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Financial Accounting teams to deliver efficient operations and high-quality service.
  • Budgeting & Planning: Support the development and forecasting of annual budget, long-term financial plan, and monthly reports.
  • Treasury & Taxation: Manage Council’s taxation obligations, cash flow, investments, and borrowings.
  • Stakeholder & Policy Support: Assist the Finance Business Partner model and business areas with budget processes, financial advice, and policy development.
  • Strategic Contribution: Help develop and execute strategic and operational plans to meet department and Council goals.
  • Branch Collaboration: Partner across the Financial Services Branch to support overall operational success and undertake reasonable duties as directed.

About You

You will be an experienced Financial Accounting leader with proven experience and reliability in previous positions.

The successful candidate will possess:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance or similar
  • Extensive experience in a senior financial operations and accounting roles
  • CA/CPA Qualification or similar
  • Previous local government experience is highly desirable, but not essential
